Bhutan Geography is characterized by its striking Himalayan landscape and strategic location in South Asia. Nestled in the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan shares its northern and northwestern borders with Tibet (China), while the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, and Sikkim surround it to the east, south, and west.
Covering an area of approximately 38,394 square kilometers, Bhutan Geography is often compared to that of Switzerland, both in size and rugged terrain. The country stretches about 300 kilometers in length and 150 kilometers in width, with dramatic variations in elevation—from the low-lying southern foothills at 160 meters to towering Himalayan peaks reaching up to 7,541 meters in the north.
Home to a population of around 700,000 people, Bhutan Geography contributes to its status as one of the most sparsely populated nations on Earth.
